The history of Epson

Seiko Epson Corporation (Epson) was founded 1942 by Hisao Yamazaki and started as a producer of watch parts.

When the Seiko Group was assigned the task to be official time keeper for the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games, Epson got the assignment to develop a printing timer. To date, they have become most famous for pioneering the piezoelectric Inkjet Technology. Printers using this technology do not heat the ink when printing like other inkjet printers does.

Epson is today one of the largest suppliers within the printer field offering inkjet printers, laser printers, scanners and dot matrix printers.

Interested in Epson Compatible Cartridges?

Buying an original Epson cartridge is not cheap. Luckily, the market has been opening up in the last years and there are now choices out there for those that want buy an Epson compatible cartridge instead. These cartridges are manufactured to be 100% compatible with the Epson printer and to meet the standard set by Epson for their cartridges.

Epson have always produced printers with a permanent printhead. This have historically made the Epson ink cartridges cheaper than many other printer makers. The reason for this is that the Epson cartridge only contained the printer ink and no electronics.

Epson have in the last years introduced new printers on the market that use cartridges that contain a chip. The goal with this chip was to make it impossible for other ink manufacturers to create an Epson compatible cartridge. Luckily for Epson printer owners, other ink manufacturers have been able to create fully compatible cartridges that also include an Epson compatible chip.
